Lift Repairs: Fast Diagnosis Checklist
A practical triage for common lift faults — and the info that helps engineers fix faster.

Safety first
Never bypass safety circuits. If passengers are trapped, call emergency support.
Quick triage
- Is power present? Check supply, fuses/spur, isolator.
- Any error codes on controller or car display?
- Doors fully closed/locked? Obstructions cleared?
- Recent works, storms, water ingress or repeated trips?
Common faults
- Door lock/edge faults stopping travel.
- Brake not lifting / inverter faults.
- Hydraulic low oil / overheated motor.
- Battery/UPS or autodialler failures.
Information that speeds repair
Lift make/model, error codes, when the fault occurs, and any patterns after maintenance or weather events.
